Frequently-asked questions

Why should my kiln be serviced?

It is important to have kilns serviced on a regular basis to ensure that they continue to operate in a safe and efficient manner. Many potential problems can be foreseen during the inspection and testing of kilns. When the service of a kiln has been completed, a test certificate will be issued.

Is my insurance affected?

Over the last 12 months, there has been an increase in the number of customers requesting a service visit in order to obtain a test certificate for their kilns. This is due to their insurance company insisting that all kilns be serviced on a regular basis. It would therefore be worthwhile checking that your own policy is not affected by this.

What happens if my kilns needs additional work?

Don’t worry our Engineer’s carry a range of spare items for all makes of kilns, so small repairs can be done during the service visit. The Engineer will let you know the cost before undertaking any small repairs. Any additional work required that can’t be done during the service visit will be quoted in writing separately, and you’ll still find that our prices are more than competitive!

Do you service my kind of kiln?

We service virtually all makes of kilns. In addition to this we are approved Engineers for Kilns & Furnaces, Potterycrafts and Cromartie.

Other popular makes of kiln we service are as follows:

Potclays, Wenger, Podmore, Catterson & Smith and Bricesco.

If your make of kiln is not listed this doesn’t mean we don’t service it. Please call and let us know what it is.

How often should my kiln be serviced?

Kilns should be serviced at least every 12 months, however if your kiln is used more than 3 times per week, we recommend that it be serviced every 6 months.
